Does media fragmentation lead to identity fragmentation?
Regarding Dog Shirt TV discussion November 15. 2024
This morning's episode of Dog Shirt TV featured a discussion of perspectives from US Americans, Quebec Canadians, and Finnish.
A common thread occurred to me, the feelings about personal and national identity challenges could be common to most of the problems discussed. I am thinking of an unanswered question space with the following sort of questions:
Is the exposure to global viewpoints cause these problems?
Should media bubbles be considered as silos?
Is identification with media silos be contrasted with identification with regional social bodies?
Does fragmentation of media, lead to fragmentation of social identity?
What is the scope of media attention that reinforces group identity?
Has "social media" identification eclipsed cultural geographic identification?
